FARMINGTON — Cam Sennick tossed in a game-high 17 points to lift Mt. Blue to a 58-50 triumph over Edward Little in KVAC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.
The Cougars (8-3) raced out to a 33-16 halftime lead. Steve Yardley contributed two field goals and eight free throws for 12 points.
The Red Eddies (5-4) chipped way at Mt. Blue’s halftime lead in the third quarter, but struggled at the free-throw line down the stretch as the Cougars held on for the win.
Omar Haji-Hersi compiled 15 points for Edward Little, while Quin Leary added another 10.
Oxford Hills 45, Skowhegan 41
SKOWHEGAN — Freshman center Josh MacDonald drained 12 points to lead Oxford Hills to a 45-41 overtime victory over Skowhegan in KVAC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.
The Indians (3-6) got off to a quick start with a 15-9 run in the first quarter. But the Vikings (4-6) picked away at Skowhegan’s lead and dominated on rebounds in the fourth quarter to force overtime and collect a victory.
Senior guard Levi Barnes did most of the heavy lifting for Skowhegan with 22 points on eight field goals and five free throws.
Kenny Lynch provided offensive support with 12 points on two field goals and seven free throws for Oxford Hills.
Leavitt 77,
Medomak Valley 72
WALDOBORO — Tyler Walton hit five 3-pointers and dropped in 19 points and Andrew Middleton had 20 as Leavitt steered past Medomak Valley with a 77-72 victory in a boys’ basketball game Tuesday night. Jordan Hersom got into the act, too, scoring 18 points, pulling down a whopping 22 rebounds and blocking four shots. Walton was credited with seven assists and Middleton also had four blocked shots. Tim Dow added 17 points.
In the first half, the Hornets (8-2) built a 23-15 lead before erupting for 25 points in the third quarter. Leavitt also held off Medomak when it piled up 29 points in a last-ditch effort in the fourth quarter.
For Medomak, twins Isaac and Alex Greenrose combined for 44 points and teammate Shane Osier dropped in 13.
Lewiston 56, Messalonskee 46
OAKLAND — Lewiston had a big second half and guard Josh Thomas threw in 12 points as Lewiston dismissed Messalonskee (1-8) with a 56-46 victory in a boys’ basketball game Tuesday night. The Blue Devils (8-1) built a 23-19 lead at halftime before scoring another 34 points in the second half.
Messalonskee’s Ryan Erskine scored the team-high nine points and hit three 3-pointers.
Valley 69, Rangeley 47
RANGELEY — Carrington Miller sparked a 25-8 run in the second quarter that allowed Valley to pull away from Rangeley and record a 69-47 victory in EWC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.
Miller scored 10 of his 30-point total in that key second stanza. Caleb Wade chipped in for the undefeated Cavaliers (8-0) with 10 points in what was effectively a two-man attack.
The Lakers (4-5) were paced by Eric White with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Luke Elliott also contributed with 12 points, including two shots from beyond the arc.
