LIVERMORE FALLS — The RSU 73 Facilities Committee on Wednesday will continue a review of high school options to house students from both campuses. The entire school board is expected to take up the recommendation Thursday.

The committee put off making a decision in December to get more information on the cost of building an addition on the north campus of Spruce Mountain High School in Jay.

The committee is exploring two options. One is the addition to the Jay school to house all high school students next fall, if feasible, and close the south campus in Livermore Falls.

Another option is to keep both high schools open for the next school year while an addition is built. All ninth-graders would attend the Jay campus, which would also serve grades 10, 11 and 12 from that area or if students choose. The Livermore Falls campus would serve grades 10, 11 and 12.

Superintendent Robert Wall had recommended that the facilities committee postpone any action on closing the Spruce Mountain High School South Campus in Livermore Falls and action on a proposed addition at the north campus in Jay until more information on the building addition could be fully explored.

The facilities committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the Cedar Street complex in Livermore Falls. The school board will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at the complex.
