TURNER — A 73-year-old local man was charged with failing to yield in an accident that killed a woman on Route 4 in August.

A Maine State Police investigation found that John Robinson failed to give way while making a turn into his housing complex off Route 4, causing a collision with a motorcycle ridden by Margaret Wing, 54, of 20 Gage Lane, Turner.

She was riding a 2005 Harley-Davidson. She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said. She died at the scene, police said.

State Police Trooper Aaron Turcotte reconstructed the accident as part of the investigation into the crash, which happened at about 3:30 p.m.

After contact, the truck driven by Robinson, a white pickup with a plow in front and a sander in back, came to a stop at the side of Route 4 in front of Oakwood Drive, a short road leading to a mobile home park. The motorcycle Wing was riding came to rest on the paved shoulder, a few feet away.
