VFW meeting

LEWISTON — The Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will hold their monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at the Lewiston Multi-Purpose Center. All officers and members are encouraged to attend the meeting. Note the change from Tuesday to Mondays.

The agenda will include upcoming events and recruiting eligible veterans to join the post.

FAFSA aid

LEWISTON — College Goal Maine will take place at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 19, at Pathway Vineyard Church. The free workshop will provide parents and students of all ages with assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form required for all state and federal financial aid, including loans.

Computer labs with online access will be available. Sponsored by the Finance Authority of Maine in cooperation with Maine Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and the Maine Educational Opportunity Association. Recent tax information or estimates will be helpful.

Texas hold ’em

MECHANIC FALLS — Mechanic Falls American Legion Post 150 will hold a Texas hold ’em tournament at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20. Buy-in is $30.

Art for survivors

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer a free art workshop for cancer survivors, their families and friends. “Winter Blues Healing Art Workshop,” presented by artist Lenora Leibowitz, will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 21, at CMMC, 12 High St., conference room C.

The workshop will start with a few minutes of meditation followed by painting and end with sharing. No artistic experience is necessary.

Laughter yoga

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer a free laughter yoga workshop for anyone interested in participating. The workshop will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, in the Wellness Center at Parkview Adventist Medical Center.

Certified Laughter Yoga Leader Marcia Jackson will show how to combine unconditional laughter with yogic breathing to produce positive energy. The process makes it easy to cope with stress of daily life. If you can laugh and clap your hands you can participate.
