Charges

Jan. 9 at 8:28 p.m. — Dale Korhonen, 23, of Jay was arrested by Patrolman Joseph Sage on Cumberland Street on a warrant charging failure to appear for criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon. Korhonen was unable to post bail and taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris.

Jan. 9 at 9:38 p.m. — Seth Matthews, 34, of Rumford was arrested by Cpl. Donald Miller on Congress Street on two warrants charging failure to appear for disorderly conduct and violation conditions of release. Matthews was unable to post bail and was taken to the Oxford County Jail.

Jan. 12 at midnight — William Hann, 26, of Rumford was arrested by Sgt. James Bernard on Maine Avenue on a charge of furnishing a place for minors to consumer alcohol. Hann posted $600 unsecured bail and is scheduled to appear in court March 6.

Jan. 12 at midnight — Kevin Jefferson, 19, a transient, was charged by Sgt. James Bernard on Maine Avenue with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor. Jefferson is scheduled to appear in court March 6.

Jan. 13 at 2:20 p.m. — Chanda Sanfratello, 32, of Rumford was arrested by Cpl. Donald Miller on Congress Street on two warrants charging failure to appear for disorderly conduct and violation conditions of release. Sanfratello was unable to post bail and taken to the Oxford County Jail.

Assault

Jan. 9 at 9:43 a.m. — Patrolman Mike Belanger investigated a woman assaulted by an unknown man on Lincoln Avenue.

Burglary

Jan. 12 at 4:43 p.m. — Patrolman Dave Hodgson is investigating theft of a television (value $598) and jewelry (value not listed) from a Waldo Street residence.

Jan. 15 at 1:52 p.m. — Sgt. Tracey Higley investigated an attempted burglary at a Route 232 residence.

Theft

Jan. 10 at 6:28 p.m. — Patrolman Joseph Sage is investigating theft of a $6 Wal-Mart debit card from a Waldo Street residence.

Jan. 11 at 3:10 p.m. — Patrolman Dave Hodgson is investigating theft of $350 from a vehicle on Hancock Street.

Jan. 13 at 12:06 p.m. — Sgt. Tracey Higley is investigating theft of a laptop from the high school. Estimated loss: $350.

Jan. 13 at 5:01 p.m. — Patrolman Mike Belanger investigated theft of property from a Waldo Street residence. Property was returned and victim refused to prosecute.

Wanted

Nicholas Varnum, 21, Mexico, is wanted on a Rumford District Court warrant for failure to appear for violation conditions of release. The warrant is dated Jan. 12, 2012.
