Ice open, science program

BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Community Ice Rink is now open. The indoor rink, behind the old Town Hall, 26 North High St., offers free skating, free rentals for all ages and free hot cocoa. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, contact Tom Tash at 647-8786.

The winter session for the after-school Mad Science program will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 24. The six-week program is offered to grades K-6. Land Trust outing

GREENWOOD — The first winter outing for the Mahoosuc Land Trust will be Saturday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. at Maggie’s Nature Park. In addition to the regular hike, there will be a special hike for children 10 and under. Snowshoes, poles, water and snacks are recommended. Starts at Maggie’s Parking Lot, Greenwood. Turn right at Mt. Abram sign on Route 26, cross railroad tracks, turn left onto Greenwood Road and proceed 1.4 miles to parking. For more information, call 824-3806.

Roast pork

HARRISON — The Waterford World’s Fair will serve a roast pork supper on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the United Parish Congregational Church starting at 5:30 p.m. The church is at 77 Main St., also Route 117. The menu will be apple and cranberry stuffed roast pork, mashed potatoes, vegetable, roll, drink and the famous homemade pies for dessert. The price is $7 for adults and children under 6 are $3.50.

Winter Fun Day

HARRISON — On Sunday, Jan. 22, the annual Waterford World’s Fair Winter Fun Day will take place at the High View Farm of Bill and Darcy Winslow on Leander Harmon Road. Watch for signs. The fun will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be sliding down the big hill at the farm. Horse-drawn sleigh rides through the woods will cost $5 per person, with kids under 3 free.

There will be a bonfire back at the barn; hot dogs can be cooked on a stick over the fire or the fair’s mobile food wagon will be open for burgers, chowder, stews and hand cut french fries. A bake sale will be available.

Animals in the barn include Belgian Draft Horses, cows, pigs, many barn cats and two Shelties dogs.

Karaoke at Legion

NORWAY — Karaoke with professional D.J. Tom, T.J. the D.J, will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at American Legion Post 82.

The cost is $6. No food will be available.
