DIXFIELD — Bernard Drury, 80, of Dixfield passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Jan. 17, following a short bout with cancer.
Berrnard was a lifelong resident of Dixfield. He attended Dixfield schools, graduating in the class of 1950. He participated in all aspects of high school life, where he was an outstanding athlete. He continued to play town sports after graduation and to support high school sports throughout his life.
He married Sarah Vaughan in August 1953. Together they raised their children, who thought him to be the best dad ever, who never ceased to amaze with his ability to solve their problems and with his sense of humor.
He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. He especially enjoyed entertaining and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah; his daughter, Kim Patterson and Keith; sons, Spencer and his wife, Joan and Stuart and his wife, Terry; his grandchildren, Ben, Jana, and Katlin Drury, Tracy Wilson and husband, Bryan and Amanda Behnke and husband, Wade; and great-grandchildren. Ambyr and Kelsey Wilson and Jacob and Gwyneth Behnke.
He was predeceased by his parents; his stepfather, Richard Calden; his brother, Warren; and his beloved granddaughters, Sarah and Jody Patterson.
He will be greatly missed by his family, his friends and his special neighbor, Queenie.
