Dog races rescheduled

BRIDGTON — The Winter Carnival portion of the Maine Lakes Musher’s Bowl will be held as scheduled Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 21 and 22.

All events, except the snowmobile trail rides will go on. However, the sled dog races, to have been held at Five Fields Farm, are being postponed due to lack of snow and technical conditions on the race track. The races have been rescheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 18 and 19.

There are still open slots for the sled dog rides on Highland Lake this weekend. Contact the Chamber at 647-3472 for more information.

Sunday speaker

PARIS — Anita White will lead the worship service at the First Universalist Church on Pine Street Sunday, Jan. 22. Her sermon topic for the 10 a.m. service is “Speaking the Truth in Love.” Joyce Franklin will be at the organ bench. Coffee and fellowship will follow the service and all are welcome. Childcare is available.

Church workshop

OTISFIELD —The East Otisfield Free Baptist Church, Rayville Road, will host an inservice workshop at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28.

Topics will include blood-borne pathogens, fire extinguisher use and maintenance, escape plans, and safe/respectful relationships for all. Chaplain Pattie Haggerty and Al Haggerty will be the presenters.

The public is invited. Coffee and refreshments will follow.

Food pantry

WEST PARIS — The Neighborhood Niche Food Pantry of the West Paris Baptist Church, 15 Church St., is open the first Wednesday and third Saturday each month. West Paris residents are invited from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday and noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.
