Dearborn benefit
LITCHFIELD — A benefit dinner for Peggy Dearborn will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at Carrie Ricker School. There will be a spaghetti dinner, silent auction and entertainment.
Dearborn has taught in RSU 4 for 39 years. She fell on ice and has been at Maine Medical Center in Portland for several weeks recovering from a head injury. Money raised will benefit her and Dan while they are out of work. He is staying in a hotel in Portland to be close to her while she recovers.
Healing hands
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering a free reiki workshop for ages 7 and older and their families. Healing Hands will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at CMMC, 12 High St., Conference Room I.
The workshop, facilitated by Reiki Master Meredith Kendall, will show children how to use their positive energy and the touch of their hands to comfort the ones they love. A pizza lunch will be provided. The workshop is part of the Healing Tree Children’s Program.
Kendall, RN, BSN, MSN, is a nursing instructor at the CMMC College of Nursing and Health Professions. She is the author of “Reiki Nurse: My Life as a Nurse and How Reiki Changed It.”

Snowshoe trek
LISBON — Healthy Androscoggin will hold a snowshoeing adventure at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Beaver Park, Cotton Road.
The park fee for Lisbon resident is $1; nonresident is $3. The first 20 registrants will be free.
A winter hike will be held if there is not enough snow for snowshoeing. Some snowshoes are available. To register and reserve snowshoes, call 353-9075.
