LIVERMORE FALLS – RSU 73 Transportation Director Ken Vining told the school board Thursday that he went on six school buses before Christmas vacation and informed students about rules of the bus.
There have been some misbehaving issues on the buses in the past that were brought to the board’s attention previously.
The seven basic rules of riding on the bus are:
* Use quiet voices.
* Ride safe, stay in seat and face forward.
* Keep hands and feet to yourself.
* Respect drivers, others, students, no put-downs.
* When driver puts on overhead white lights, there is no talking.
* Report any problems, concerns to driver as soon as possible.
* No food or drink.
Vining also told the board that a diesel engine needs to be replaced on a 2005 school bus that has 97,000 miles on it.
It looks like the head is gone on it, he said.
Initially Vining said it was going to cost about $10,000.
When reached Monday, he said he had just received the estimate to make the repairs and it was going to cost $15,580.
The bus is new enough and has low mileage and that is why the investment is being made to repair it, Vining said
