AUBURN — Central Maine Community College’s Corporate and Community Service department will partner with the IRS to offer a seminar on “Worker Classification Rules” at its Auburn campus on Feb. 29 from 6-8 p.m.

Performing due diligence and complying with classification requirements is a critical part of doing business today and this program will focus on providing business owners with necessary information to properly classify the people they hire.

Conducted by Shawn Savage, IRS senior stakeholder liaison for Maine, the program will provide participants with information on determining whether workers are independent contractors or employees, filing the Form SS-8-Worker Status Employment Taxes and Withholding, electronic filing of worker classification related forms, relief and determination of misclassified workers-Sec 530 and additional resources to assist businesses with classification questions. Cost to register is $5.
