GRAY — The National Weather Service is warning of sleet and freezing rain in Oxford and Franklin counties tonight, into Friday morning. Icy roads and power outages are a possibility.

The winter weather advisory goes into effect at 7 p.m., with snow on the forecast until around midnight, when it turns to freezing rain and sleet. The warning runs from 7 p.m. Thursday to 4 p.m. Friday.

“Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities,” the advisory reads. “Use caution while driving.”

Rumford, Norway, Fryeburg, Oxford, Farmington, Wilton, Madison and Skowhegan are included in the advisory, as well as upstate New Hampshire. The mountains of Western Maine are expected to hold on to cold air the longest, and will see the most snowfall before turning to sleet and rain.

The weather service forecasts three to five inches of snow.
