PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Two-time Olympic gold medalist Seth Wescott is out for the season after surgery to repair a torn muscle but he’s expected to make a full recovery.
Wescott tore his pectoral muscle during the snowboardcross World Cup last Thursday in Veysonnaz, Switzerland. Octagon, his management agency, confirmed Wednesday that Wescott had successful surgery on Monday in Vail, Colo., to reattach the muscle to the bone in his upper arm.
Wescott, 28, doesn’t seem overly worried about the season-ending injury. On his Facebook page, he posted a picture of himself in a hospital johnny and said his spirits were high. He will participate in ESPN’s broadcast Thursday night of Winter X Games in Aspen.
The Maine native won gold in the inaugural snowboardcross in the Turin Olympics, then collected gold again Vancouver.
