In a recent article about a town meeting in Roxbury, John Sutton, chairman of the Board of Selectmen, told citizens who have a problem with noise coming from the Record Hill wind turbines to tell it to the Department of Environmental Protection.

To tell people to get help from the DEP regarding noise is insulting and disingenuous. To anyone involved in working with the DEP in this area, it is apparent that the DEP is woefully ineffective.

This is a transparent and disrespectful attempt by Sutton to divert attention and responsibility away from those who brought the turbines to town. Over and over again, during all of the meetings with Angus King and Rob Gardiner, they assured the public that they wanted to hear from citizens of the area if there were problems. Well, now is the chance.

They have named a local man to be in charge of the facility — Gordon Gamble. He needs to hear from people.

The town, under Sutton’s direction, bent over backward to help King and Gardiner in their business adventure, easily dismissing those in the community who repeatedly expressed their concerns.

The town needs to hear from other people as well.

Every complaint should be in writing on the official town forms with — I recommend — a copy made and saved. You never know when you might need proof of your attempts to correct any problems which were predicted, dismissed and which now have made themselves manifest.
