LISBON — Junior forward Ethan Boyd scored a game-high 16 points to lead Mt. Abram to a 55-43 victory over Lisbon in MVC boys’ basketball action Monday.
The Roadrunners (3-12) got off to a 16-10 start and went on a 16-4 run in the second quarter for a 32-14 halftime lead. Tyler Hupper and Calum Dixon contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Mt. Abram.
Junior forward Mason Haley paced the Greyhounds (1-15) with 12 points.
Madison 62, Monmouth 32
MONMOUTH — Three players scored in double digits as Madison nearly doubled up Monmouth 62-32.
Austin Kane tallied a game-high 17 points for the Bulldogs (8-7), while M.J. Flanders and Steven Lawrence contributed 10 points apiece.
The Mustangs (2-12) were able to keep pace with Monmouth in the second quarter with a 7-7 frame. Brandon Goff tossed a team-high 15 points for Monmouth.
Spruce Mountain 60, Mtn. Valley 49
RUMFORD — Senior point guard Jake Bessey tossed a game-high 20 points to lead Spruce Mountain to a 60-49 victory over Mtn. Valley in MVC boys’ basketball action.
The Phoenix (14-1) managed a five-point lead in the second quarter and maintained the margin through the third. Zach Bonnevie chipped in with 13 points.
The Falcons (8-6) closed to within one point in the fourth quarter. But Spruce Mountain sprinted to the final buzzer to secure the win.
Junior point guard Ryan Nicols garnered a team-leading 14 points for the Falcons, while Zak Radcliffe and Jacob Theriault posted 10 points each.
Cony 60, Oxford Hills 56
SOUTH PARIS — Senior forward Walker Cooper went on a second half tear, scoring 21 of his 23 points to lift Cony to a 60-56 triumph over Oxford Hills in KVAC boys’ basketball action.
The Rams (5-9) scored nearly as many points from the free throw line as from the field. Down by five at the half, and still trailing by three going into the fourth, Cony managed to find 15 points from the charity stripe.
Cony went 15-for-22 from the line in the fourth, and 29-for-42 in the game.
Senior guard Brian Lynch recorded a team-leading 11 points in a balanced attack for the Vikings (4-10).
Girls’ basketball
Mountain Valley 61, Carrabec 37
NORTH ANSON — Ayla Allen scored a game-high 24 points as Mountain Valley pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 61-37 triumph over Carrabec in an MVC girls’ basketball game Monday.
The Falcons (10-5) held a comfortable 36-19 lead at halftime, but Carrabec limited the visitors to two points in the third stanza to cut the deficit to single digits. Mountain Valley responded with a 23-8 run in the final eight minutes to seal the victory.
Brooke Dolloff chiped in with 17 points for Mountain Valley. Carrabec (3-11) was led by Jocelyn Jackson with 13 points and Emma Pluntke added 12.
