POLAND — The Poland Knights forced four overtimes but fell short in the end, falling to Yarmouth 92-78 in boys’ WMC Class B basketball on Friday.

Yarmouth’s Josh Britten exploded for 52 points, including five 3-point baskets to lead all scorers. Britten was eight for 10 from the free throw line in the fourth overtime to help seal the victory for the Clippers (13-3). Chris Knaub and David Murphy contributed with 16 and 14 points, respectively.

Logan Nichols of Poland hit 3-point baskets at the end of regulation and again at the end of the first overtime to force extra play.

Nichols once again kept the Knights alive with a pair of free throws to force a third extra stanza. The Knights’ Ricky Bryant forced the fourth overtime when he scored on a lay up to tie the score.

All of Poland’s game tying points came with less than six seconds on the clock. Bryant finished with a team high 23 points followed by Nichols’ 18. C.J. Martin chipped in with 13 points in the loss.

Leavitt 69, Oak Hill 28

TURNER — Senior forward Jordan Hersom notched a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead Leavitt to a 69-28 rout over Oak Hill in KVAC boys’ basketball action Friday.

The Raiders (0-16) kept pace in the first half, trailing 31-20 at intermission. Junior guard Sam Morin tossed four field goals, including three from 3-point range, for a team-leading 11 points.

The Hornets (13-3) picked up the tempo in the third quarter, going on a 25-4 run in the frame. Tim Dow and Zac Goulette contributed 10 points apiece for Leavitt.

Lewiston 47, Brunswick 46

BRUNSWICK — Senior guard Shawn Ricker scored 18 points to lead Lewiston to a 47-46 nail-bitter over Brunswick in KVAC boys’ basketball action Friday.

The Dragons kept pace throughout the contest, but could not nose ahead. Mitchell Black posted a game-high 24 points on eight field goals and five free throws for Brunswick.

The Blue Devils held on to a one-point lead for the final 40 seconds.

Josh Thomas contributed 13 points on six field goals for Lewiston in the winning effort.

Oxf. Hills 47, Erskine 37

SOUTH PARIS — Oxford Hills outscored Erskine 12-6 in the final quarter to pull away for a 47-37 triumph in boys’ Class A basketball.

Senior Deric Hanscom netted a game-high 14 points for Oxford Hills (5-11). The forward also hauled down nine rebounds. Josh MacDonald chipped in with 14 rebounds. Alex Ferguson added six points from a pair of 3-pointers.

Tyler Belanger led the Eagles (6-10) with nine first-half points, but was held to just four by the Vikings defense in the second.

Forest Hills 59, Buckfield 45

JACKMAN — Evan Worster poured in 24 points, including the 1,000th in his career as Forest Hills downed Buckfield 59-45 in boys’ Class D basketball.

Worcster hit the milestone with 55 seconds remaining on a free throw to complete a three-point play. The junior also hauled down 12 rebounds.

Taking a one-point advantage into the final quarter, the Tigers outscored the Bucks 22-9 to seal the victory. Freshman Ryan Petrin chipped in with 15 points while grabbing 16 boards for Forest Hills (13-3).

Austin Dooley paced Buckfield (6-10) with 20 points, followed by Trevor Averill’s nine.
