DEAR SUN SPOTS: I noticed a poster at the grocery store for a free Zumba day at the YWCA in Lewiston on Feb. 5 and was wondering if anyone had more information. I have heard a lot of good things about Girl Power Fitness and Adriane Kramer, so I think it should be fun.

What different types of Zumba are being offered, and will food of any sort be provided? Do you have to be a member to enjoy all this? Thank you! — No Name via email

ANSWER: According to www.ywcamaine.org: Zumba Bowl is coming to the YWCA on Feb. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees — they do not have to be a Y member — can try out different Zumba activities for free.

There’s a list of the different kinds of Zumba and instructors on the website. There will be a few light refreshments. You can call 795-4050 with additional questions.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In December at the Feztival of Trees at the Shriner’s Temple in Lewiston, there was a gal selling the best mittens, made from recycled wool sweaters, that I have ever seen. She was set up in the back toward the kitchen area, and was selling primarily mittens.

I have found many different patterns on the Internet, but none of them compare to the mittens that I saw at the Feztival. Because is it so cold, I would really like to be able to make mittens that I could donate to those in need here in Maine.

If someone from the Feztival can help share the mitten pattern, or I could purchase a copy, that would be fantastic. Or if someone else has a great recycled wool sweater mitten pattern that is lined with fleece, I would be thrilled if they were willing to share! Thanks. — Gabrielle, bmorgansister@yahoo.com

ANSWER: Sun Spots cannot be sure if it’s the same person or not, but Beth Derenburger in Oxford, 539-4353, was selling recycled sweater mittens at the Central Maine Medical Center holiday fair on Nov. 18.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thanks for doing such a great job at finding solutions to problems and helping people find what they need. I am hoping that you can help me find some knitters and crocheters who can use some patterns from long ago.

I remember that someone was once looking for crocheted doily patterns and couldn’t find them. Well I have lots that were given to me by a dear lady who used to do a lot of knitting and crocheting. I have crochet Barbie Doll patterns, doilies, bedspread and clothes, also many knitting pattern for men, women, children, babies from the 1950s to ’80s.
