Pomerleau

LISBON — A surprise party was held recently for Roland and Rosalie Pomerleau of Lisbon on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary. Party hosts were their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the event was their at the home of the couple.

Attending were 12 of their 16 children with their spouses, along with 10 of 33 grandchildren and four of eight great-grandchildren. The couple also received telephone calls from around the country and the world from those unable to attend.

Mr. Pomerleau and the former Rosalie Knowlton were married Dec. 8, 1951, at St. Ann’s Church in Lisbon.

Their children are, from oldest to youngest, Joe Pomerleau of Lewiston, Annette Kennedy of South Portland, Paul Pomerleau of Sabattus, Raymond Pomerleau of Lisbon, Katie Lord of Taylors, S.C., Theresa James of Lewiston, Jeannette Pomerleau, Robert Pomerleau of Lewiston, Marcel Pomerleau of Dardena, Calif., Ronald Pomerleau, deceased, Armand Pomerleau of Sabattus, Dominique Pomerleau of Auburn, Jean Pomerleau of Lewiston, Eugene Pomerleau of Lisbon, Pierre Pomerleau, deceased and Christine Hunt of Mechanic Falls.

Their grandchildren are Joe and Lou’s children, Christopher and Cara; Annette’s children, Tim, Amanda and Joanie; Paul and Sue’s children, Preston, Matt and Brian; Raymond’s children, Raymond, Jr., Ryan and Stephanie; Katie and Jim’s children, Laura, Samantha and Jim, Jr.; Theresa and Richard’s children, Tonya, Kelly and Andrew; Robert’s children, Amanda, Robert, Jr. and Jessica; Marcel and Maria’s children, Marc, Matthew and Jonah; Armand and Lisa’s children, Noah and Alex; Dominique and Chona’s child, Neil; Jean and Lucy’s children, Ashley and Brandon; Eugene’s children, Miranda and Josh; and Christine and Phil’s children, Donna, Andrew and Tabitha. 

Mr. Pomerleau was employed as a mechanic at his father’s Shell Gas Station in Lisbon, then opened his own business as a television repair man in the 1950s and retired in 1995. He also gardened in his back yard to provide food for his large family of 16 children and his favorite pastime was fishing for relaxation.

Mrs. Pomerleau worked at a 5-and-10-cent store as well as at her family’s farm. After her marriage, she became his secretary for his television repair business. She is a loving mother and housewife to her husband and their 16 children. For fun, she enjoys cooking, baking, knitting and sewing clothing for her children and now for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
