RUMFORD — Selectmen will convene a special board meeting Thursday to approve a town warrant on the proposed creation of three new tax-increment financing districts.

The meeting begins at 4 p.m. Feb. 9 in the Municipal Building Conference Room.

The warrant will be discussed in a public hearing at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, in Rumford Falls Auditorium. The special town meeting to vote on the matter will start at 7 p.m.

Late Tuesday afternoon, Town Manager Carlo Puiia scheduled the special selectmen’s meeting after attorney James Saffian completed the warrant for the TIF proposal.

At previous board meetings, selectmen designated three areas in town as municipal development and TIF districts, in which to promote economic development investment.

These are The Gateway Area, where the new Amato’s restaurant was built by the Hosmer Fields Complex along Route 2; The Puiia Business Park on Route 108 coming into town; and The Rumford Falls Entryway.

The latter is the area from just before McDonald’s on Route 2 where the proposed brand name hotel may be built.
