RUMFORD — Joyce Horne Keyo, 79, of Mexico, died Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Rumford Community Home.

She was born June 27, 1932, in Rumford, a daughter of Wirt T. and Isabelle (Kilbreth) Horne. She attended local schools, graduating from Mexico High School in 1949.

She married Calvin U. Keyo in 1977. He died on Dec. 28, 1988.

She worked at Stowell McGregor in Dixfield for 15 years and was involved in the union. She later worked as a receptionist at Region 9 and the Learning Center Adult Ed.

She was a former member of the Monitor Chapter OES and a life-member of the Mt. Zircon Chapter No. 142. She was also an active member of the Mexico First Baptist Church.

Joyce loved making craft items and later painting with watercolor.

She is survived by her four children, Susan J. Briggs and her husband, Dwight, of Mexico, Steven J. Ellis and his wife, Barbara, of North Windham, Lori Ellis Gatlin of Fayetteville, N.C., and Linda J. Ellis of Mexico; grandchildren, Troy and Brian Briggs, Jennifer and Michael Ellis, Michelle Gatlin and Brandon Ellis; great-grandchildren, Gaige, Seth, Spencer, Jacob, Michaela and Cara; two brothers, Charles Horne and his wife, Marlene, of Scarborough and John Horne and his wife, Liz, of Georgetown, Texas; and two special friends, Sheila Bent of Rumford and Hackey Thomas of Mexico.

She was predeceased by a very special grandson, Benjamin Ellis.
