AUBURN — Jeanne “Joan” A. Dufour, 80, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the Androscoggin Hospice House. Jeanne went to join her soulmate and husband, Marcel Roland Dufour in heaven.

She was born in Waterville, Aug. 31, 1931, to Joseph “Raoul” and Lotta Mae (Bolduc) Veilleux.

Jeanne worked in Lewiston and Auburn textile mills, where she met and married Marcel Roland Dufour in 1949.

They spent their years together, side by side, working in the mills, as well as hunting, fishing and camping. It was always a light hearted competition between the two, who would get their deer first, who would catch the biggest fish, and who could outshoot who, when they went skeet shooting.

They leave behind three wonderful daughters, Jacqueline and her husband, Norman J. Fortin, Pauline and her husband, Jerry Martin and Joline and her husband, Norman Chouinard; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Marcel, who passed away in 2002; and her grandson, Steven Chouinard in 1971.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the Hospice House, to Dr. Roger Austin and all the staff for their excellent care of our mother.
