CHESTERVILLE — Longtime Chesterville resident Jeremy T. Lambert was recently promoted to the rank of staff sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during a ceremony with Marines and sailors from Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group aboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek–Fort Story.

Lambert, who graduated from Mount Blue High School in 2001, is  serving as an advising skills instructor with the Training and Instructor Group at Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group.

Since enlisting in June 2004, he has provided engineering support to nearly 10,000 Marines and foreign military personnel in support of various operations throughout the globe to include Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In 2006, he provided demolition and engineering support for Second Reconnaissance Battalion while deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

A year later, he deployed with 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, aboard U.S.S. Tarawa, in support of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. During this deployment, he visited numerous countries including Singapore, Bahrain, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and Australia.

During his last and most recent deployment in 2009, he deployed with 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment in support of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, aboard the U.S.S. Bonhomme Richard. Lambert was a member of the visit, board, search and seizure team, which conducted anti-piracy operations throughout the Gulf of Aden and the Persian Gulf.

Lambert lives in the Virginia Beach area of Virginia with his wife Danielle, who is originally from Orange County, Calif. His parents, Thomas and Anne Lambert, still reside in the Chesterville area.
