TURNER — Mud season will be upon us soon and folks in Turner know what that means — time for Mud Supper. This annual event celebrates getting out of the house because spring will soon be here and that means it’s time to visit with the neighbors again over some good food and laughter.

This year’s Mud Supper will be held Friday, March 30, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the GAR Hall on Route 219 in North Turner. This event kicks off the annual fundraising season for the North Turner Presbyterian Church.

Mud Supper doesn’t include mud but it is made up of golden brown casseroles, baked beans, lots of things chocolate usually including “dirt” cake and a fun serving of celebrating Maine’s “fifth” season.

The church’s activity list this year includes six public suppers and three concerts as part of the Fall Music Festival. A new supper has been added this year at the request of Turner’s July Fourth Celebration Organizing Committee and the church congregation will be serving up the bean-hole-bean supper on July 3 in conjunction with music at the gazebo and the town’s fireworks display.

The GAR Hall is located approximately 1/2 mile east of the Route 4 and 219 intersection in North Turner. The supper has no set price but goodwill donations are taken at the door.
