JAY — A new cafe is coming to town.

Mary Howes and Tim DeMillo of Jay received approval Monday for a liquor license for their Mill St. Cafe that will open at their Otis Falls Mill in Jay.

The couple will own the cafe but have hired a team of people to run it, Howes said.

The eatery, which will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, will be housed in the area known as the former railroad station, in the former Wausau Paper Mill.

Howes and DeMillo, principles in Otis Ventures LLC, bought the mill when the paper company closed in 2009.

They are in the middle of licensing the restaurant with the state and don’t know exactly when they will open, Howes said.

“We are shooting for a first of April opening if all goes well,” she said.

There are several other tenants in the mill.
