Seniors meeting change

LIVERMORE FALLS — The meeting of the Jay-Livermore Falls Seniors scheduled for March 5 has been delayed until Monday, March 12, at 1 p.m. An election of officers will be held at that time, as well as a regular weekly meeting.

Anyone who lives in the area and is 55 or over is welcome to join the group every Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. for a short meeting, followed by refreshments and socializing.

Ice-out contest

PHILLIPS — Plans are underway for the second annual Toothaker Pond Ice-Out Contest.

The same as last year, a person can become a friend raising funds for the town and share winnings with any community group or charity in Phillips, Avon or Madrid and give them half of the money.

Guesses may be made at Phillips Hardware-5k Pizza or personally with Winona Davenport or Rick and Dora Dill.

Cost is $5 per guess; guess as many dates as you wish. Cut off date will be in early April.

Last year’s winner was Diane Hall who shared her winnings with the Phillips Little League and the Phillips Food Pantry, each receiving $147.75. Diane received $295.50. Ice was declared out at 12:20 p.m on April 26.

Free luncheon

FARMINGTON — Old South First Congregational Church will serve its monthly free community luncheon on Saturday, March 10 from noon to 1 p.m. The menu for this month includes corned beef with cabbage, onions, potatoes, carrots and cake.

Delivery service will be available in the Farmington area. Call the church office at 778-0424 during the week or the church kitchen at 778-4438 on the morning of the luncheon to have a meal delivered.

Penny sale auction

PHILLIPS — The 13th annual Penny Sale Auction will take place at noon Sunday, March 11, at the Phillips Public Library. Ticket chances will be on sale through March 10 at the Library Annex on Main Street. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Proceeds benefit the library.

Pork roast dinner

NEW SHARON — An eat-in or take-out pork loin roast dinner will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at the Masonic Lodge Hall, Route 2. Served with mashed potatoes, peas, baby carrots, rolls, apple sauce, pies, tea and coffee. Adults $8, $6 children 6-12, free under 6. To benefit the building fund.

Lasagna supper

CHESTERVILLE — The Chesterville Heritage Society will hold its popular lasagna supper before the Monday, March 12, Town Meeting at the Town Office on the Dutch Gap Road. Time of the supper will be 5 to 6:30, with the Town Meeting to follow at 7.

The $6 menu includes lasagna, garlic bread, cole slaw, baked beans, pickles, beverages and dessert. Children under 12, $3.

A Heritage Society Historic Chesterville blanket will be raffled. All are welcome, Town Meeting attendance not required. For more information, call Linda at 778-2863.

Homemakers meet

WILTON — The Wilton Day Extension Homemakers will meet at 10 a.m.  Thursday, March 14, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. For more information  call 645-2423 or 778-0673.

The group meets on the second Thursday of the month from September through June.
