DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for an electrician who wires homes so that I can strip for copper and aluminum. We have to travel to Boston for the next 24 weeks for our 14-year-old granddaughter’s medical treatment. We stay at the Ronald McDonald House, but the expenses for food, gas and parking are great. — Marie, Greene

ANSWER: Sun Spots hopes that she misunderstood your question. If you strip the copper from your home, how will you turn on your lights or operate your furnace? Besides, by the time you pay an electrician to do the work, you would make little money.

Stories in the news about thieves stealing copper and other metals from homes don’t always mention that a home’s worth of copper is usually only worth a few hundred dollars. You’d be lucky to pay for one visit to Boston.

You might want to visit Community Concepts in South Paris, 743-7716 or 800-866-5588. They can help you find out if you are eligible for assistance. There are many programs you may not know about that might ease your burden as you care for your granddaughter.

Sun Spots sympathizes with your situation and hopes your granddaughter’s treatment is successful.

Meanwhile, if any electricians want to offer their services or suggestions, Sun Spots welcomes them.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have an antique doll that belonged to my mother when she was a little girl. It is a porcelain doll with arms, legs and head that attach through the inside of the body with hooks and an elastic piece. The elastic piece has broken so the arms, legs, and head are no longer attached.

I would really like to get this doll repaired but have no idea where to go. Is there somewhere close that could repair this doll? The hair and face could also use a touch up. Thank you, — Cindy Petherbridge, cindylou88@msn.com

ANSWER: Sun Spots has two doll doctors in her Rolodex:

* Linda, Special Place for Dolls, Wales, 375-7255

* Faye Mercier, Dixfield, 562-4549

DEAR SUN SPOTS: What is happening in the accident that happened in West Paris? It seems like things are at a standstill. Is that the case? Is Kristina Lowe out of the hospital? Were charges filed? It was a hot story at the beginning but after that nothing. — Kim via email

ANSWER: Kim is referring to the accident that claimed the lives of Rebecca Mason and Logan Dam on Jan. 7. If charges are filed, the Sun Journal will report them. Other than that, Kristina is a private citizen and her medical care is a private matter.
