JAY — Police on Thursday recovered a stolen vehicle from Chesterville with help from a Jay resident.

The person reported seeing the red 2002 Toyota Echo parked on the side of Davenport Hill Road in North Jay after information about it being stolen was put out on the police scanner by Maine State Police, Jay Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier said.

The car, with the keys still in it, had been reported stolen from a Ridge Road driveway in Chesterville on Thursday morning, he said.

He and police Chief Larry White Sr. found the car, which did not appear to be damaged, Fournier said.

Police are looking for anyone who saw the car dropped off between 7:20 and 7:30 a.m. or who has information about the case, Fournier said. The Jay Police Department number is 897-6766.
