A committee from the Merchants’ Association is to meet to consider the plans or the possibility for the building of an auditorium in Lewiston sometime in the future. It would not be primarily a home for the militia but a hall to be used in handling large assemblies, fairs, auto and motor boat shows, and the like.
50 years ago, 1962
A rumor is making the rounds locally that a concern which manufactures electric blankets is interested in taking over at least a part of the now vacant Continental Mills in Lewiston, but no confirmation of the report has been forthcoming, At present it is reported the company has a connection in New Bedford where the actual blanket is woven, while the concern is reported located in the Bridgeport, Conn., area.

Central Maine Medical Center’s special program to help nurses with the day-to-day issues faced by primary care-givers has been recognized by a national health care organization. “A Day for Nurses” program, which was developed to assist the medical center’s nursing staff, received national recognition in a recent edition of the Ryan Advisory, a health care newsletter in Washington, D.C.
