HEBRON — Hebron Academy is proud to recognize several local students for outstanding athletic achievement this season. All students were honored as Most Valuable Players of their respective winter sports team at a school awards ceremony Monday.

Hebron athletics capped off another successful winter season. The boys’ basketball team was NEPSAC Class C runners-up and took Hebron to its first-ever tournament appearance, clinching a spot in the New England finals after two major consecutive upsets against Pingree School of Massachusetts and Providence (R.I.) Country Day School.

Representing the ski team, Olivia Grimmer, a freshman from Lewiston, placed sixth overall in the NEPSAC giant slalom to earn All-New England honors and earned second place in the MAISAD series. She will compete for a spot in the Junior Olympics this weekend at Killington, Vt.

Shane Hearn of Auburn has committed to the United States Military Academy at West Point and plans to play hockey there in the fall. His season highlights included power play goals against NYA and a two-goal effort against Berwick Academy.

On the girls’ hockey squad, senior Mariah Mosher of Lewiston recovered from major shoulder surgery at the beginning of the season to anchor Hebron between the pipes, averaging 30 saves per game. She capped she season with a shutout against NYA and put up an all-time high 42 stops against Winchendon.
