The celebration is set for Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. and is open to the public. Art, music and performance art will be featured. The gala marks the beginning of a week of nine visiting artists who will work with students, art teacher Marcia Martin said. “The artists connect with students in interesting ways,” Martin said. Schomaker has had a camera hanging from her side since she was 13. She will attend the Hallmark Institute of Photography this fall.
