LEWISTON — Anita P. Charron, 86, a lifelong resident of Lewiston died Wednesday, March 14, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion.

She was born in Auburn, March 2, 1926, the daughter of Vital and Rose (Gendreau) Cormier and attended schools in Lewiston.

She worked for many years at Knapp Shoe and later owned and operated “Cakes by Anita.” She was also a grammie at the Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care.

She was a longtime member of the former St. Joseph’s Church in Lewiston.

She is survived by her sons and wives, Alphonse and Joan of York, Michael and Frieda of Williamsburg, Va., Daniel and Sue of Lewiston and Marc and Terri of Greene; her daughter, Suzanne Gagnon and husband, Roger, of Lewiston; her 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Mundy of Southport, N.C., Kristina Hudson of Manitou Springs, Colo., Stacy Aylward of Southington, Conn., Amy Purrington of Bowdoinham, Kelsea Charron of Lisbon Falls, Steven Charron of Kingston, N.H., Kevin Gagnon of Auburn, Jeff Charron of Belchertown, Mass., Joel Charron of Greenland, N.H., Jamie Charron of Falmouth and Jason Charron of Lewiston; 16 great-grandchildren; her sister, Rita Taylor of Lewiston; her longtime companion, Paul Pinard of Auburn; and her sister-in-law, Arline Vachon of New Mexico.

She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Charron in 1984.
