LEWISTON — Attorney David C. Pierson will take over as chairman of the Good Shepherd Food-Bank’s board of directors.
Pierson has served on the board since 2004 and been involved with the organization since 1987 when he oversaw construction of the food bank’s Lewiston warehouse.
Food bank spokesperson Clara McConnell said the board voted to make Pierson chairman Wednesday. It announced the decision Friday in a news release.
Pierson replaces Diane Dunton, who served as chairwoman since 2006.
According to the news release, Pierson is a shareholder and attorney with Maine law firm Eaton Peabody, based in Brunswick. He specializes in construction law.
After joining the board of directors in 2004, he oversaw the construction of the Good Shepherd Food-Bank’s Auburn facility as head of its building committee.
McConnell said interim President Bill Ewing has stepped down from his position. Ewing temporarily replaced Rick Small as president and chief executive officer when Small left the organization.
“He did what he felt he could during the two months he was here,” McConnell said. “Now we are focusing on finding the right person for the permanent position.”
