Museum classes

LEWISTON — Museum L-A will offer a chance for students ages 9 to 14 to enrich and extend their science knowledge through March and part of April.

Museum Educator Joan Beal will present a series of after-school programs focused on simple machines, inventions and mathematics. Dates are Wednesday, March 21, Tuesday, March 27, Wednesday, April 4, and Wednesday April 11, with all sessions taking place from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Activities will be partly based on AIMS Foundation materials. The AIMS Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing hands-on, active, critical thinking science activities that integrate science and mathematics. Students will have the opportunity to make and test loop gliders, geo-panes, simple machines, and choose the group’s final project.

Seniors dinner

AUBURN — The New Auburn Seniors will hold a beef stew dinner at noon Wednesday, March 21, at the St. Louis Church basement hall on Third Street.

Tickets are $4 for members only. Members were asked to purchase tickets at the March 7 meeting.

Virginia Levasseur presided at the March 7 meeting. March birthdays were noted and gifts presented. Pot of gold winners were Jackie Lothrop, Ray Duquette, Lou Hamel, Paul Beaucage, Simone Hinkley and Rita Goudbout. The 50/50 winner was Joan Gagnon. A lunch was served and bingo followed after the meeting.

Open bingo for seniors age 60 and over will be held Wednesday, March 28. New members are welcome to the meetings.

Face fear workshop

LEWISTON — Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community is offering a free five-week “Face Fear, Stay Motivated and Reach Your Goals” training from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, March 29, April 5, 12 and 19, at the Lewiston Center at USM LAC, Westminster Street.
