AUBURN — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Fernand Cote was celebrated Saturday morning by the Rev. Richard McLaughlin at St. Louis Church following prayers at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home.
During Mass the New Testament reading was proclaimed by Fern’s niece, Jennifer Desjardins. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Fern’s brother-in-law, Rodrick Cyr and goddaughter, Jean Desjardins.
Following a procession to St. Peter’s Cemetery, McLaughlin recited committal prayers, following which the U. S. Navy honor detail played “Taps” and presented our country’s flag to Fern’s goddaughter, Jean Desjardins, in recognition of services rendered to our country during World War II by her godfather, Fern. At the conclusion of services all in attendance were invited to a reception of fellowship at Marco’s restaurant in Lewiston.
