JAY — Daughters of Isabella Circle 677 of St. Rose of Lima met March 15. The meeting was called to order by Regent Denise Rodzen at 6:30 p.m., then Chancellor Laurieanne Castonguay led the group in the recitation of the rosary.
The draping of the charter was held for deceased members, Shirley Couture, and Pricilla Labbe. Rita Crowley sat in for Recording Secretary Olive Couture, Jackie Castonguay sat in for Treasurer Louise Chandler, Denise Soucy sat in for First Guide Louise Buzzell, and Geri Ross sat in for Outer Guard Amy Ouellette-Newman.
Louise Chabot was elected to take over the position of the first auditor, Shirley Couture. Castonguay recited the opening prayer, and Rita Crowley read thank-you cards received from the family of Shirley Couture, seminarian Brad Morin and the Maine Right to Life Committee.
Regent Denise Rodzen read a letter from State Regent Jacqueline Dostie Smith regarding the off-year meeting. Scribe Kim Couture said she had submitted articles to the newspaper about the February business meeting and that some of the Daughters were helping at the Knights of Columbus free supper in March.
Couture donated a $20 gift certificate she had won to the Maple Lanes Clubhouse. She reported she had put the certificates and awards the Daughters had won over the years in a book and showed the scrapbook she put together of things the group has done from May 2011 to February 2012.
Next she showed the pictures she was asked to put in frames. Couture’s husband, Shawn, made the frames. The photos are of the State Circle Convention of 1954. Rodzen asked if members could see anyone they knew.
Vice Regent Dot Morgan said she sent get-well cards to Shirley Couture, Beverly Fournier, Laurette Poulin and Catherine Larochelle, then sent sympathy cards to the families of Shirley Couture, Priscilla Labbe and Joe St. Pierre.
An upcoming bean supper was discussed and who would bring items for the raffle table. Rodzen spoke about everything Shirley Couture was in charge of and asked those present if they would like to take on one of the tasks. The meeting came to a close at 8:30.
