On Jan. 11, 10 students participated in the initial round of the National Geographic Bee at Philip W. Sugg Middle School in Lisbon Falls. Ciera Miller took first place in the competition and is looking to qualify for the State Level Bee to be held March 30. Second place went to Jacob Fusaro. Both winners were provided with certificates, medals and gift cards for Books-a-Million. Ciera also won a full-color reference book to further her studies in geography and social sciences. Amy Kissell, seventh grade English language arts/social studies teacher, was the bee coordinator and advisor for the group.
