LEWISTON — Frances E. Jordan (Garnier), 92, of Montello Heights, 550 College St., Lewiston, formerly of Mechanic Falls, passed away Sunday, March 18, at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion after a short illness.
She was born in Lewiston, Feb. 15, 1920, daughter of the late Thomas B. Mitchell and Hattie M. Moore. She was educated in Lewiston schools and was married to Hubert L. Garnier, who predeceased her. She later married Peter Jordan of Poland, who predeceased her. Her brother Eugene Mitchell of Lewiston also predeceased her.
Prior to her retirement, Frances was employed as a supervisor at Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in Lewiston. She was a very active 30-year member of the Mary Dillingham Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and the Tyrian Masonic Lodge 73 and Order of the Eastern Star. She was the secretary of her building association and member of the Poland Spring Preservation Society. She also loved square-dancing.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas W. Garnier and wife, Mary, of Columbia, S.C., and Ed Garnier of Monmouth; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by a son, Hubert (Hubie) Garnier.
