LISBON — St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church is offering a free women’s seminar, “The Value of Suffering,” led by author Julie Caton from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 31. Child care is available upon request.

“The Word has many promises about the value of trials. Through this interactive study of Scripture we will explore how the suffering we Christians do is related to our growing awareness of the Inheritance we have in Christ. How can our suffering be a key to understanding what Christ has given us?,” asked Caton.

Caton, a graduate of Smith College and later the University of Buffalo, is a clinical psychologist who has served the mental health needs of the western New York area for three decades. She is the author of the historical novel, “White Heart,” and “Poems of a Wondering Soul.”

Caton, a member of Oakfield Alabama Baptist Church in New York, was raised by Episcopalian/Presbyterian parents. She is a mother of two grown children and a granddaughter.

A free lunch is included and reservations may be made by contacting the church at 353-8453 or stmattlisb@gwi.net.

St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, founded in 1906, brings together contemporary worship with ancient ritual, Bible-based preaching, expressions of the Holy Spirit, and loving service to others. The church is located on the hill off Route 196. For more information, visit www.StMatthewsLisbon.org.
