NEW GLOUCESTER — The Village Coffeehouse will feature two groups Saturday, April 7,  a cappella group the BluTonic and blues/jazz/bluegrass group Lousy Cowboy Music with special guest Dave Moretti.

The newly formed BluTonic of Portland performs  jazz and pop standards. Started as a group of musical friends getting together, BluTonic has developed a repertoire of tunes with sophisticated tight harmonies and mellow tones.

Before forming BluTonic members — Nath Anderson, Kate Driver, Kim Fox and Nathan Hagelin — performed in various a cappella ensembles, choral groups and instrumental bands in genres ranging from classical to bluegrass. BluTonic has performed at small venues and private parties in the Portland area.

Lousy Cowboy Music members — Chris Dombrowski, Scott Elliott, Kim Fox and John Ganz — share musical interests ranging from blues, jazz and old-time, to rhythm and blues and ragtime.

The band’s repertoire includes original songs and instrumentals; arrangements from mountain, swing, gospel and blues traditions; and bluegrass adaptations of pop and contemporary music. LCM has performed at music and arts festivals, clubs, taverns and private functions throughout the Northeast.

Moretti, a Rhode Island-based singer-songwriter and picker, has been playing the Northeast for decades. His soulful songwriting combines storytelling and sentimental journeys backed by polyrhythmic melodies.

The double-header performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Village Coffeehouse is at 19 Gloucester Hill Road.
