Sophia Brown, 4, of Lisbon Falls talks with Jolene Peterson of Portland about her maltipoo, Prince, while waiting in line at the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society on Friday. The Lewiston shelter began its three-day pet adoption event, the ASPCA Mega Match-a-Thon Meet your Match, with a bang, sending 78 adopted animals home with new owners as of 4 p.m. “It’s a chaotic but organized life-saving day,” Operations Manager Zachary Black said. People began lining up at 9 p.m. on Thursday to get their choice of pets. The shelter’s goal is to find homes for 175 or more animals over the course of three days. Event hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Go to sunjournal.com/match to watch a video of Friday’s event.
