Snowmobile meeting, supper

ANDOVER — Snow Valley Sno-Goers snowmobile club will hold its annual meeting and potluck supper on Saturday, April 7. The supper will begin at 6 p.m. and will be followed by the annual meeting and election of officers at 7 at the clubhouse, off Route 5.

All members and interested people are invited to attend the supper, the meeting or both. They are asked to bring a dish to share for the potluck.

Union Church sunrise service

LOCKE MILLS — The Locke Mills Union Church will have a sunrise service at 6:15 a.m. Sunday, April 8, Easter Sunday. Breakfast will be at 6:30 a.m. and the regular church service at 9 a.m. Everyone is welcome.

‘Son’-rise service, breakfast

OXFORD — A “Son”-rise service will be held Easter morning, Sunday, April 8, at 6 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Church on Poplar Street.

Immediately following the service, a free hot breakfast will be served. The menu will consist of scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, pancakes, with fresh maple syrup, juice and coffee.

Substitute Teacher Training, 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, with Patrick Hartnett. Free.

Society annual, board meetings

NORWAY — There will be a brief annual meeting of the members of the Norway Historical Society at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the society, 471 Main St. The annual meeting will occur prior to the regularly scheduled Board of Trustees meeting.

The annual meeting has only one item to address at this time: to amend the bylaws to change the annual meeting from April to January. The motion to change the date of the annual meeting has the full support of the board of trustees.

Editor to be guest speaker

BETHEL — Mike Daniels, editor of the Bethel Citizen, will be the guest speaker at the Whitman Memorial Library on Thursday, April 12, at 2 p.m. Learn the ins and outs of publishing a weekly newspaper. The program is open to the public at no charge and light refreshments will be served.

Garden Day course planned

LEWISTON — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension will again offer its very popular Maine Garden Day on Saturday, April 14, at Lewiston High School. Registration is $50, which includes breakfast and lunch, a trade show and an opportunity to take up to four workshops. Limited scholarships are available.

This year, in response to increased demand for information on self-sufficiency, workshops on small-scale livestock production, living off the grid, sharpening chainsaws and gardening tools as well as programs on various types of food preservation techniques have been added to the day-long program.
