CARTHAGE — Police said a local man was arrested Tuesday after a woman told them he assaulted and threatened her with a gun at his house.
Joseph B. Beggs, 29, of Carthage was charged with felony domestic violence, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence assault, Franklin County Sheriff Lt. Niles Yeaton said Wednesday.
“The woman had some injuries,” he said, and went to the house of a family member in Dixfield to call police.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department received a call from Dixfield police at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, prompting county Detective David St. Laurent to interview her and Sgt. Steven Lowell and Cpl. Stephen Charles to find Beggs, Yeaton said.
Beggs is scheduled to appear at 8:30 a.m. Friday, April 20, at Franklin County Superior Court in Farmington.
