LEWISTON — City contractors grinding and milling the asphalt along Ash Street from Bates Street south to Canal Street could cause traffic delays Monday.
Wes Enman, Lewiston engineering technician, said crews would work Monday and part of Tuesday grinding off Ash Street asphalt. It’s a continuation of Ash Street repaving work that began last summer. Crews removed the pavement and put down a new layer from Sabattus to Bates streets.
The section from Bates to Canal streets will get a new layer later this spring, and paving crews will be back during the summer to put down a final layer of pavement on the entire stretch, from Canal to Sabattus streets.
“This is one of the projects left over from last summer, and we have a few others we’ll be announcing in the next few weeks,” Enman said. “We worked on them, but just couldn’t finish them until the season ended.”
A different set of contractors is working along Ash Street, cutting and repairing sidewalks for repaving. That work is expected to continue into May.
