DIXFIELD — The Regional School Unit 10 board will hold a workshop Monday night to review a survey of employees and community members that could reduce the preliminary 2012-13 budget of $37 million.
The workshop begins at 6:30 p.m. at Dirigo High School and no public comment will be taken.
Superintendent Tom Ward said his goal is to cut $1.7 million from the spending plan, which would result in a 3.5 percent increase over this year’s budget of $34.1 million.
“The board workshop is to share information from the surveys and the community, and to gather other (cost-cutting) ideas from the board,” Ward said Thursday afternoon. “No decisions will be made. It is meant to provide feedback.”
Ward will present an official list of recommendations for cuts at the April 23 board meeting, which will be held in one of the schools in the Mountain Valley region.
The board will vote on a final figure at a special meeting April 30.
During the past few months, administrators have presented their requests to the board. Most figures showed little or no increase.
Ward has said that no schools will be closed, but other buildings may be discontinued.
The budget will go to voters in June.
