RUMFORD — A variety of cute, cuddly barnyard animals will appear, vanish and return again to take center stage at The Mystic Theater at 49 Franklin on Saturday, April 28.

That’s when Dennis Labbe of Steep Falls, who lives on a farm, will present “The Fine Feathered & Furry Friends in the Hip Hoppin’ Quacky Magic Show,” a mix of comedy and fun.

Children can expect to see doves, rabbits, chickens and a few other surprises as Labbe mixes animals with stage illusions, sleight of hand and comedy.

“The animals are really the stars. When they come out, I don’t stand a chance,” Labbe said, noting youngsters especially like the cute fuzzy ones. After the show, children can get close to, and possibly pet, some of them.

Labbe performs throughout the summer at Acres of Wildlife Campground, where he earned the nickname, Mr. Magic. He performs magic at private parties, corporate events, schools and libraries throughout New England.

Scot Grassette, local performer and owner of the Mystic Theater, will host the event. “It’s really a great show for families and people of all ages to come out and enjoy together,” he said.

Doors will open at noon with the show starting at 1 p.m. at The Mystic Theater at 49 Franklin St. There will be face-painting, goodie bags, snacks and drinks available. Tickets, $8 for all seats, are available at the door, by calling 369-0129 or at www.49franklin.com.
