MEXICO — A mother and son were arrested on charges of possession of cocaine over the weekend.

Mexico police Lt. Roy Hodsdon said Joshua Pollis, 26, of Main Street, was arrested Friday evening after a report from an Osgood Avenue resident of an assault. Pollis was arrested at his home on charges of violating probation, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, and refusal to submit to arrest.

Hodsdon said the assault is still under investigation.

Pollis was taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris and transferred to the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn where he remains.

On Saturday at 11:29 a.m., Pollis’ mother, Shelly Rose, 47, also of Main Street, was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. She was released from the Mexico Police Department on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Mother and son are scheduled to appear in court July 3.

Hodsdon said the department handled 39 complaints during the past six days, including a 16-year-old boy from Hartford and a 15-year-old from Peru summoned at 5:16 p.m. April 6 on a charge of the theft of eight, 30-pack cases of beer from Walmart that day. A 17-year-old and a 16-year-old, both from Peru, and a 17-year-old boy from Dixfield were issued summonses on a charge of receiving stolen property.

Hodsdon said additional charges are pending against several other juveniles. The boys were released to the custody of their parents. No court date has yet been scheduled.

At 4:29 p.m. April 9 someone from Mountain Valley Middle School reported the theft of a cellphone valued at $100 from a locker.

At 11 a.m. April 5 a middle school representative reported the theft of a laptop valued at $1,200 from the locker room.

A Leavitt Street resident reported at 9:23 a.m. April 9 that someone ripped his mailbox off its post sometime between 6 p.m. April 8 and 7 a.m. April 9. The mailbox is valued at $25.

A Sun Valley Circle resident reported at 10:54 a.m. April 8 that someone broke into her storage locker and stole softball equipment valued at about $100. Police have suspects.

A Fifth Street resident reported at 8:30 a.m. April 5 that someone rummaged through the contents of his unlocked vehicle. Nothing was reported missing.

A Granite Street resident reported at 2:40 a.m. April 5 that he saw a male entering vehicles on Granite Street, including his. A two-way radio valued at $500 was taken from his vehicle. The resident chased the suspect but was unable to catch him. He did, however, provide a detailed description.
