LIVERMORE FALLS — The Jay Livermore Falls Seniors met at Murray Hall on April 9 with 29 members present.

Chairwoman Fernande Doiron opened the meeting with a prayer, salute to the flag and a moment of silence for all departed members and for the men and women serving in the armed forces.

It was announced that Eugene Pomerleau passed away recently. The group was asked to keep his family in their prayers.

EMTs Felicia Harris and Mani-Jean Louis from North Star conducted blood pressure checks and gave a demonstration on what to do in times of sickness or emergency.

Fern thanked everyone who donated for the Easter meal and for those who helped set and clean after the meal.

The group is in need of a scribe to keep a scrapbook of the group’s activities. During the break this summer a committee is needed to write new by-laws since the ones that are now in hand were enacted in 1972. Volunteers are needed to help with this.

On Monday, April 16, a Chinese auction will be held. It’s time for spring cleaning and donations of unwanted items are welcome. Another auction will take place in May before the break for the summer months.

Pat Laverdiere spoke about the bus trip to Fosters in York for a lobster feed in September. An approximate count was taken. The trip is about $55 and includes the bus and the meal.

The 50/50 was won by Marilyn DeSoto. Door prizes donated by Nancy Couture were won by Doris Tripp, George Doiron and Marguerite Slovak. Following the meeting refreshments donated by Geraldine Richard, Joyce Richards and Carol Redman were served. All present then enjoyed beano, cards and games. Next week the refreshments will be brought by Athanase Couture, Pat Couture and Lorette Chabot.

Anyone who lives in the area and is 55 or over is welcome to join the group every Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. for cards, games and friendship.
