(Photo caption) This picture shows the southeast slope of the Brann property on which the Androscoggin Anti-Tuberculosis Association has a short option for purchase for camp work this spring. It shows part of the big orchard and the white house and big barn located on Park Avenue, Auburn. The barn has a fine double-walled cellar under it and is in fine shape for remodeling later into sleeping quarters for patients or for administrative headquarters. The property has the loveliest bit of woodland and pine timber, odorous and health-giving.

Some advertised prices on regular grade and high-test gasoline made their appearances in Lewiston and Auburn last night but the majority of stations still had the lower prices showing on signs. The stations that had posted new prices were up to 30.9 cents a gallon for regular grade gasoline. Others were maintaining the lower prices, ranging from 23.9 cents to 26.9 cents.

The City of Lewiston has joined Androscoggin County as targets for the state Department of Corrections as the agency told officials it is closing two jail cells at 8th District Court on Park Street. State Jail Inspector Ralph Nichols said the facility violated “just about every standard” required by the state for short-term holding facilities which went into effect in 1982. “A lot of the violations were operational stuff,” Nichols said. “Nobody knows what’s going on there.”
