NORWAY — Madelyn R. Purington, 88, of Oxford, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center, where she had been a resident for seven years, following a long illness.

She was born in Leominster, Mass., Jan. 1, 1924, the daughter of Ralph E. and Frances Watson Rogers. She graduated from Leominster High School and had been employed as a secretary at CIGNA for many years, before retirement.

She married Erland Purington. She enjoyed being outdoors, going out to eat and she was a dog lover.

She is survived by a niece, Jean Devito of Southington, Conn.; her close friends, Jack and Alice Greenleaf; and her late husband’s extended family.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1992.
