LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen approved a change order Tuesday for construction of a small roof over the electrical utility unit on the back of the compacting station at the transfer station.

The board made the decision to have Chretien Construction of Livermore build the roof over the unit for about $6,000, Town Manager Kristal Flagg said Wednesday. Chretien also built the main roof over the compactors at a bid price of $54,800.

In other business, selectmen gave the Jug Hill Riders Snowmobile Club permission to remove trees around the clubhouse on Diamond Road, Flagg said. The town owns the property, but the club owns the clubhouse.

The club will have the dead wood chipped. Any good wood will be taken to Dimension Lumber in East Livermore to be made into boards to be used for snowmobile bridges, Flagg said.

Selectmen also accepted a bid of $4,900 from Brooke Williams of Livermore Falls for a town property at 9 Sewall St., she said. The property had been previously been put out to bid with a minimum bid of $5,000, along with other foreclosed properties. The property did not receive a bid the first time.

The board rebid it with no minimum requirement and received two bids. The other bid was from Alan Adams and Richard Cushing for $500. The Livermore Falls men were awarded three other properties that were foreclosed on for bids totaling more than $19,000 in March.

In another matter, selectmen tabled a request to have the Fire Department be licensed as first responders until further information is received, Flagg said.

Selectmen also agreed to have Portland Glass install a large glass door with an aluminum frame to provide a petition for security between the lobby and counter area and town employees’ offices, Flagg said. The doors will be left open for selectmen’s meetings, other public meetings and voting.

People will be allowed in through doors when they go to meet with the town manager and for other services. The cost is $2,200 with locks. No light will be lost in the corridor that leads from the front lobby to the selectmen’s meeting room. The money will come out of the building and maintenance account in the current budget, Flagg said.
